Continued from previous episode: Den sits in Jan's car outside the pub while she expresses her feelings at having learned that he lied about telling Angie about their living together. He gets out and goes back into the Vic. Jan speeds away.
Den finds Angie unconscious in the kitchen and realising that she'd overdosed on pills and booze, he calls for an ambulance. They all go to the hospital where the nurse says Angie will be OK as soon as they pump her out.
Simon is up early with a hangover, banging around the kitchen. Sharon comes in and fixes him an Angie special. They notice that Den and Angie aren't there. Simon asks where she got off to last night. She and Kelvin went to see "The Old Bill", a mod rock group.
At breakfast Michelle tells her mum and gran that she really enjoys her new class at the education centre. The class is small and she can ask questions. She says she's decided she'd like to go into the NNEd program (Nanny/Nurse education). Pauline interrupts "Oh like princess Di and you'll have letters after your name!" Chelle says that when her baby is older she could take her to work with her.
Pauline goes in early for her shift at the launderette so Dot can take care of her moving into No 23. Tony offers her his van and muscle, as did Ethel. Tony helps with the moving even though he is in pain after a meeting with the protection thugs. They had made their rounds of the café and shop collecting the £10/week and stopped Tony in Bridge Street as he carried a can collecting for a new dog for Ethel. He thought they wanted the £5 he had in the can but they wanted revenge for his attack on Beresford. One showed him the hilt of a hunting knife and they shoved him into an alley and gave him a solid blow to the midsection.
As Tony takes a rest, he asks Dot if she'll be all on her own in the flat and she says yes but she doesn't mind that. She's been on her own since her Charlie ran off with her sister. Ethel comes in and asks Dot about her dating progress with the "comuter" service. Dot stutters a bit and Tony speaks up that she took his advice and dropped them all as she was too good for them. But he is sure she'll find someone.
Debbie and Naima are in the shop when Simon comes in and asks Naima about the curry dinner they'd discussed. He tells her he couldn't stop thinking about it since she mentioned it. Debbie tells her it is a good idea, Andy is working that night and she is going out as well. So the date is on. Naima works on the meal for 2 hours in her native dress and Simon arrives with a rosé wine just as Roy picks up Deb for a drink at the Vic. The meal goes well complete with Indian music.
Angie discharges herself and returns to the Vic. Den tells Angie that he's made up his mind to come back to her and give Jan the elbow. (other way round most likely)
They try to keep the business about the pills hushed up and when Mary asks about the blue light outside the pub the previous night, they ask her to keep quiet about it. Then Sharon wants to know where they were last night. They tell her, they went to a party at Sonny and Rhea's and kipped on their sofa. She doesn't believe them and later that night when Jan telephones Den, Sharon overhears him tell her "not tonight" and explains that Angie had tried to kill herself and if she hadn't kicked him out of her car when she did, she might have succeeded.
